Donations from Indians to fight the novel coronavirus to PM Cares Fund.

PM Narendra Modi asked people to make donations to the PM-CARES Fund as country is battling against deadly coronavirus. Covid-19 has triggered widespread lockdown across the country which results in economy crisis.

The death toll due to COVID-19 in India climbed to 1391 and the total number of cases to 42500 on Sunday, while it has exceeded 35 Lacs with more than 2 lacs deaths globally.

During this worst phase, several Indian Business Tycoons like Ratan Tata, Mukesh Ambani, Anand Mahindra among others have pledged to help fight the coronavirus.

Other than business tycoons, several Bollywood stars, cricketers and TV celevbrities also come forward for this noble cause.

List of people who contributes big to PM Cares Fund:-

1. Ratan Tata – The Tata Group

Tata group is one of the largest and ethical company who based in India. Ratan tata has pledged Rs 1500 crore for combating coronavirus pandemic. He extended assistance to the government of India in their fight against coronavirus.

Tata Trusts pledge of Rs 500 crores to protect and empower all affected communities. The additional amount of Rs 1000 crores was announced by Tata Sons, the holding firm of the Tata group companies.

Tata group also offers free food, testing kits and ppe kits to the needy people. They also set up 1100 beds for isolation, quarantine and observation facilities in centres.

Ratan Tata on Twitter wrote: “The Covid-19 crisis is one of the toughest challenges we will face as a race. The Tata Trusts and the Tata group companies have in the past risen to the needs of the nation. At this moment, the need of the hour is greater than any other time.”

2. Mukesh Ambani – Reliance Group

Mukesh Ambani, India’s richest man is always on the frontline when it comes to making generous donations for the welfare of mankind. Billionaire Mukesh Ambani gave Rs 500 crores to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s PM-CARES Fund.

Mukesh ambani donated 500 crores to PM Cares Fund.

Ambani also pledged to donate Rs 5 crore each to the Gujarat CM Relief Fund and Maharashtra CM Relief Fund.

Ambani also promise to set up a dedicated 100 – bed centre at Seven Hills Hospital in Mumbai. RIL also said that it will provide free fuel to emergency vehicles carrying covid-19 patients.

3. Azim Premji- Chairman, Wipro Limited

Azim Premji have pledged Rs 1125 crores towards the fight against coronavirus. Of the 1125 crores, Wipro Enterprises Ltd donated Rs 25 crore, Wipro Ltd’s committed Rs 100 crore and the Azim Premji Foundation contributed Rs 1000 crore.

Azim Premji donated 1125 crores to PM Cares Fund.

He is the 10th richest man in India and is well known for his social welfare.

4. Aditya Birla Group

Aditya Birla Group has pledged to donate Rs 500 crores to the country to fight COVID-19. Out of 500 crores, Group contributed Rs 400 crores to the PM-Cares Fund.

They also activated a 100- bed facility in partnership with Brihan Mumbai Municpal Corporation at Seven Hills Hospitals in Mumbai.

The company also earmarked 200 beds in cities like Pune, Ujjain, Rayagada and Hazaribagh as quarantine centres.

5. Radhakrishan Damani – Promoter of Avenue Supermarts

Avenue supemarts owns D-mart has pledged to donate Rs 100 crores to the PM-Cares Fund. Group further contributed another Rs 55 crores towards various state relief funds and donations was made through group company Bright Star Investments.

6. Deepak Parek – Chairman HDFC Ltd

Financial services conglomerate HDFCGroup has committed Rs 150 crore to the PM-Cares Fund to support the government. Deepak Parek further said that these are uncertain and trying times for all us”.

7. Anil Agarwal – Vedanta Resources Limited

The Executive Chairman of Vedanta Resources Limited has pledged Rs 100 crore to fight pandemic. The 66-year old chairman tweets that “this is the time when our country needs us the most”. He further added that he is very concerned about the daily wage earners.

8. Gautam Adani – Adani Group

Billionaire Gautam Adani announced a Rs 100 crore contribution to PM fund to support the country to fight coronavirus. This contribution is made by group’s philanthropy arm.

9. Sajjan Jindal – Chairman JSW Group

Sajjan Jindal has said that JSW group was continuously monitoring the situation. He said that company was committed to assist the government with donation of Rs 100 crore to the PM-Cares Fund.

10. Uday Kotak – MD Kotak Mahindra Bank

Uday Kotak announced a Rs 60 crores donation. The bank donated Rs 25 crores to PM Cares Fund and Rs 10 crores to Maharashtra CM Relief Fund.

11. Anand Mahindra – Mahindra Group

Anand Mahindra, Chairman of Mahindra Group is among business tycoons who has pledged to contribute 100% salary to the fund. He also offered to convert Mahindra Holiday resorts as temporary care facilities for isolation and treatment.

Anand Mahindra further added that engineers of Mahindra will be manufacturing ventilators in its factory with estimate cost below Rs 7500.

12. BCCI

The Board of Cricket in India (BCCI) pledged to donate Rs 51 crores to PM-Cares Fund to support the country to fight COVID-19. Official further added that they will provide grounds to make isolation centres. BCCI further added that they are committed to provide support ti the state machinery in emergency and distress conditions.

Bollywood Superstars who contributed to PM-CARES Fund.

1. Akshay Kumar – Bollywood Superstar

Akshay Kumar donated 25 crores to PM Cares Fund.

He is most generous celebrity in COVID-19 relief efforts. Kumar made a contribution of Rs 25 crores to PM-Cares Fund.

Kumar has donated Rs 3 crores to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to help to make masks and rapid testing kits, Personal Protective Equipments for municipal and healthcare workers.

He also make donations of Rs 2 crores to Mumbai Police Foundation as a gesture to headconstables Chandrakant Pendurkar & Sandip Surve, who laid their lives fighting Corona.

2. Bhushan Kumar – Owner T-Series

T-Series owner Bhushan Kumar contributed Rs 11 crores to the PM Cares Fund and bagged the second spot after Akshay Kumar. He also contributed Rs 1 crore to the Maharashtra CM Relief Fund.

3. Kartik Aaryan – Bollywood Star

Kartik aaryan gained fans praise for donating 1 crore to PM Cares Fund.

He donated Rs 1 crore to PM Cares Fund. He earned praise for donating a hefty amount.

Cricketers contribution

Many cricketers come forward to support the country to fight COVID-19.

1. Yuvraj Singh

He donated Rs 50 Lakhs to the PM Cares Fund.

2. Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma joined the cause as he donated Rs 80 Lakhs to help country to get stable.

Out of Rs 80 lakhs, he donated Rs 45 lakhs to PM Cares Fund, Rs 25 Lakhs to Maharashtra CM Relief Fund and Rs 5 lakhs each towards Feeding India and welfare of stray dogs.

3. Sachin Tendulkar

India legend Sachin Tendulkar had contributed Rs 25 lakhs each to PM Cares Fund and Maharashtra CM Relief Fund.

Conclusion

The donations made by mentioned Indians  to PM Cares Fund will be use by Prime Minister Office for the welfare of the citizens of India.

Country is thankful for the contributions made by Business tycoons, Bollywood stars, cricketers and others. They are the most generous people who understand the challenges face by humans.

This is the time country need them the most and its duty of every citizen to contribute to the society.
